Rough ride... shocks needed

Can someone recommend a good manufacturer of shocks for my 97 Chevy Tahoe? I can feel every crack in the road. It is time to replace the shocks, I think. Any recommendations are appreciated. Also, if you were UNhappy with a specific type of shocks, let me know.

Thanks.

I went with Bilstein HD shocks all around on my 98LT. Bought them at Auto Zone, for about $55 each. Very happy with them. Not quite as smooth as the original Bilsteins that were on there when new, but close. They also make a Bilstein comfort ride, but was about $10 ea. more, and was worried they might be to mushy for trailering etc.

Cool Take my wife... please. Henny Youngman.

I recently replaced my Bilsteins at the 100,000 milestone with Monroe Reflex shocks. The Monroes are good sturdy shocks. But I think they are harsher than their ads would indicate. If I had to do it over again I might have went with the Bilstein Comfort shocks like SpruceGoose has recommended. I liked the OE Bilsteins better than the Monroe Reflex. I like my Tahoe to ride more like a Cadillac and less like a Jeep. Or I might have went with an adjustable shock such as the Rancho 9000x- a shock that I believe is made by Monroe, or the ProComp MX6. I should have asked for advice like you have and thought my choice of shock through better. One thing we both need to keep in mind, a Tahoe is a medium duty truck. It isn't a luxury car... I would probably go with the Bilstein Comfort Shocks if I had to do it over again...maybe I still will. The only thing I am married to is my wife. Women, can't live with them, can't live without them.
