Re: LT1

Hi, I've always wanted to know what you guys think is possible with the LT1.I had a friend of mine who had a 96 Z28.He bought it at the dealership with 46,000 miles on it.It was a 4 speed automatic.Yes, I know you're all laughing. But, that car was so f$%^@# fast you would not believe it!!! It had some kind of chip,K&N air filter,Flowmaster,And it kicked in at 3rd gear like you would not believe. He only had three losses in the three years he had the car.A Ford Lightning(not stock),97/Z28 6spd(but not in the 1/4,in the 1/2!!!,)Yes, even a Supercharged rustang.I hear alot of people laugh at the Camaro and Chevy. The only reason that the Mustang outsold the Camaro is purely advertising. You see Ford adds everywhere,Chevy never advertised all that much. All I can say is, I hope Gm executives read these words. So they can realize the minivan, the compact, they are not the only things people buy.I will now get off my soapbox.

Re: Re: LT1

I agree, I don't think I've ever seen a Camaro Ad... EVER. I'd also like to point out that in seems like half the girls in my High School wanted to get Mustangs. I never once heard a girl say they wanted a Camaro, always a "Blue Convertable Mustang, ooooo" or something like that. Now I'm glad I don't drive a girl's car but obviously someone in the marketing department of Ford has done their job.

I believe you about the Ford heads doing their job. But I could NEVER, ever understand why Mustangs were always more favored?? Correction....Abundant. I guess it has to do with insurance but i dunno for sure about that. Cause it's slower, model-model. Not as attractive, and the same price (Guessing). I just never understood that, and yeah I have never seen a camaro/firebird commercial. Just the one when the Trans Am eats the Lambo (unlikely) which i downloaded off the internet, and on dealership commercials where they will take out some of there nice cars and film them and put them on a commercial. But I know this might piss some people off, but I believe that sex plays a small part. Girls, when I went to school (which seemed to always be 6 cyl.) My mom, grandmother (4 cly. conv. ) 2 aunts, and my aunt's daughter all have had or still do have mustangs. On the other hand my uncle L has a 69 camaro ss (stolen with 62,000 miles ), and 80's IROC, and an 02 Vette. My uncle D had 3 different trans ams growing up. Now for the past 2 months iv'e been searching used dealerships far and wide for a Firebird/Camaro (not much luck) But there's my thoughts. And I see a connection. But I do have really cool friends with tight mustangs.

Re: Re: LT1

there are many differences and you cant make it simple and come up with just one answer. the camaro was always more expensive. then you always have to keep in mind there are always people that will only get fords or chevys. they started making the camaro cost to much and make it to close to the vette thats why its sales slowly died out. but there is no reason in discussing it people will never agree.

Everything you said is either known, or common knowledge.

Re: Re: LT1

I'd just like to add that most of the people I know that wanted Mustangs were not like "I would like a Camaro but a Mustang is cheaper"... they were like "I want a Mustang". It's almost like imports, it just starts catching on and then it grows exponentially. And the original sticker price on the LS1 I want reads "$27,960.00" which is pretty much in Mustang range so I think the price difference if any is negligable. I think it was mentioned somewhere else but it is more than a little cheesy that now there are a fleet of Mustangs... you can't make several different cars and call them all versions of the same car, that's just silly. We have two different cars based just on looks (Camaro and Firebird). Imagine the Corvette, Corvette Z06, Corvette Z28, Corvette Trans Am, Corvette GTO, Corvette V6 coupe... a car that has totally different body incarnations, and ranges from a economy look-fast, a fast coupe 4-seater, up to a 2-seater made to run w/ Porches. Now doesn't that sound silly.

Re: Re: LT1

WHO CARES! more people bought mustangs then camaros so what. everything said in this post is obvious. there is nothing mind boggling about any of this. yes calling it that is silly i never said they were the same did i. what else is silly is having a post on why people bought more mustangs then camaros. even if you wanted to know the reason to that stupid question you would have to ask the mustang people why they bought em not the camaro people. i dont mean to start a big argument i just said that it was stupid and people started atacking what i said.

I think it's because we're all just better than the rest of the moronic public, we're an elite group of motorists that know what's really good.

Re: Re: LT1

The Mustang vs Camaro thing is old news. The only reason someone owns either one or the other is because they where raised by a Ford family or a GM Family or they prefer the way either one looks, I have owned a Mustang, 2 Vette's , BMW z3 (which I still have) and my current LT1 Formula and I loved the car that I had at the time, it didn't matter that my 93 Mustang was not as Fast as the 93 LT1 F-body and it doesn't matter to me now if my 96 LT1 Formula can beat a 4.6 Supercharged Mustang. I just bought my car because I alway's wanted one and I have never been brain washed into buying a car because of a Ad. but any way to get back to the original topic. I kinda take offence to that Automatic comment (people laughing) I think that anyone who laughs at a V8 muscle or Sport's car with a Auto should go to the track and see what most of the super low ET cars are running it doesn't take a 6 speed to make your car fast. Infact most people will admit in 9 out of 10 road races the Auto has the advantage the only disadvantage is drivetrain loss is a bit higher but where not talking about a major amount where talking about at most like 5- 7 % more. And I also don't think that most people laugh at Chevy LT1's and LS1's Camaro. Most other car's forums that even mention a LT1 or LS1 say that they are fast and hard to beat, the only time I ever really see the LT1 put down is in our own forums either Firebird or Camaro and thats cause the LS1 is a better engine but with every new model come's more technology and advance but the LT1 (besides the waterpump placement) in my opinion having driven both LS1 and LT1 versions is a pretty bad ass car. with alot more potential than alot of people give it credit for, but this is just my opinion
