Current owners lease/own cars in the 150K mark..Gallardo hunting?

In the next 6 months l'm looking for that "toy" car addition to the garage. I drove a Gallardo at slow speeds from Symbolic fleet in La Jolla last week, l was very impressed (from that slow drive) of what this car can/could do.
I will explore other cars as well, but l'm not seeing as many boxes ticked as the Gallardo over the other options
I've never owned a Ferrari or driven one, so that will be on my to do list to be right in the process of looking in all corners.
It won't be the 360 (love it's scream though)...I wan't some power down low + there are a few 360's around.
550 A pretty good competitor to the Gallardo...style is soft for a F car
575 Still pretty much the same style, but more stick.
I will drive both of these car soon to see if l do cross them off my list.

So back to my lease/purchase thread question, how many of the current owners of cars in that $150+K cars lease or own them outright.
What are the reasons for one over the other.
Thanks
SA

Hey SA, you really need to drive the Ferrari 360 (fast) around a track or out on the freeway sometime before you buy the Gallardo. The Lambo is a killer car, I have driven both the manual and eGear then I got into my 360 and drove home on the freeway and I have to say 5 years on it is still an awesome car. Back to your original question, I lease through my company and I roll them (the leases) over into other cars. If there is money left after the payout I roll it into the next car or use it for modifications. There are tax breaks if it is structured correctly. See an accountant. The lease way allows me to have some very cool cars and push them back through the company. I live in Australia and we get stuck with some heavy import tax and duties. A new Gallardo in Australia on the road is around $430,000. $100,000 of that goes straight to the Government. Go the lease way mate.

Re: Current owners lease/own cars in the 150K mark..Gallardo hunting?

I bought my Yellow Gallardo at Symbolic La Jolla. I too test drove their e-gear silver Gallardo and was very impressed with the car. I like it way over the 360, actually I sold my 360 at the same time. I think it handles much better on the road and corners like nothing I drove before on a race track. I also sold my 996TT in the process, I will miss the feel of acceleration you get with the Porsche but the G car is not bad at all in that area. My only disapointment is the e-gear not being as great as the Ferrari F1 transmission. I know the supplier is the same for both but lambo still has to work on the clutch part.

As far as to lease or buy, here is my take:
If you own a company and your company makes money, have the company lease the car so you don't have to get the money out of the company, pay double taxation (you and the company) in order to buy the car.

If YOU have the money, just buy it, lease rates are at around 8% at Symbolic or else. If you don't have the money, I suggest you pass on this kind of car, add to the monthly lease payment a yearly registration, insurance, maintenance, repairs, and depreciation, your wife will divorce you before your lease ends.

I to Coast Boy am an OZ boy and l know the prices you have to pay for the F cars and P cars are out of control.
A guy l met the otherday in Australia that lives in OZ for 6 weeks a year and owns a 575 @ AUD$600,000 = USD$450,000 at the best exchange rate around 2 years ago it still would have cost USD$300,000

The 360 l hear is really only got something to offer once it's upto speed. 5,000rpm+ It's sound alone will have all the cops running at you.
l'm looking for a bit more of a rounded experience and something a bit different.
I've driven a PC chipped TT with 480hp and l was in love with its ass pulling power from 2,800rpm onwards (500lbft).
I've got a track car, so the only hard driving my "toy" will get will be on the quiet roads of Orlando Florida.

I'm leaning towars a 6 speed as l've heard so far that E-drive isn't that great.
I was in Beverley Hills @ the Lamo store and l fell in love with a yellow Gallardo with yellow leather and yellow calipers. It seems to show the sharp edges of the car better then black and silver and the blue car that were also on display there.

The Symbolic guys at La Jolla are letting me have a good drive on Monday (looks like a wet day), so it looks like 1+ hours in the car should give me a good feel if it's a "yay" or a "nay"

The payments on the Gallardo are around USD$3,500 per month (the symbolic team said)

I will look into the accountant questions on the purchasing/leasing ideas.

I'm only going to be able to drive the car on an average of 1 week a month (travel the other 3) so l think l will buy over leasing.
