Re: How to adjust the idle

First, drive your car around for awhile until it's at normal operating temperature.

1. disconnect the tps (This is the throttle position sensor. It's connected to your throttle plate shaft. You'll find the sensor on the side of your throttle body)
2. Start the engine
3. Rev the motor a couple times up to around 4k RPM and then let idle again for a couple minutes.
4. Now adjust the idle by turning the idle screw located under the intake manifold. the screw is visible through the 1st and 2nd runners if your standing in front of the vehicle.
5. Stop the motor
6. Reconnect the tps
7. Start the motor
8. Rev the motor to around 4k a copule times and let idle for a couple minutes.
9. Now check your idle again. If it's at what you want then your good to go. If you still want to raise/lower it then repeat the previous steps.

Re: How to adjust the idle

Or You Can Do It The Ghetto Way And Preload The Throttle Cable!

There Are Three Methods Actually:
J Specs Proper Way (best Method)
Preloading The Throttle Cable
Or Adjusting The Timing Screw On The Ecu If Your Is Equipped With One.

Re: How to adjust the idle

It should be in the rear of the intake manifold right on the end of the lower part. Phillips head set screw.

Re: How to adjust the idle

I am curious if changing the idling can mess up the engine....cause now my engine won't start and I don't know why. the last thing i did was adjusting the idling.
