trans. shifts through 1st and 2nd good and slips on 3rd

Its a '90 silverado w/350eng and i think a 700 r4 or 4r(?) transmission

it will shift thought the first two gears all the time with no probs. when it gets to 3rd it just slips out like its in neutral.
also when its completely cold it will work fine for a few miles but when it gets warm 3rd drops out again.
expirencing similar problems on an astro van (had flushed with no avail)

sorry but you need a rebuild.....3/4 clutch is gone. Since it waits till warm, the 3/4 check ball is not gone, Id say a seal is gone, but at any rate, by now the clutch material is all in the pan gumming up the works.
