Speedometer How fast am i going??? 0

ok my speedometer does not work at all. its whack.does anyone kno the problem???my transmission doesnt work much either wut are some good 5 speed tranies???

my guess with the spedo i could be a bad connection behind the guages, or a mechanical problem with the guage itself. another problem might be with the speed sensor, thats located behind one of the front wheels, not sure which one tho. if it is the guage, you can find new pods for like 15 bucks on ebay, i dunno if you wanna go do that, but its an option. as for a tranny, maybe a scrap yard would have a good one, but i don't know any sites for a good new one

If it doesn't work AT ALL, it's probably that one of the solders has broken. It's not hard to fix... lemme see if I can find the how-to...

What do you mean your transmission "doesn't work much"? What's the problem? Other than the occasional diff pin mishap (usually happens from abuse), the Neon trannies are VERY strong and reliable.

iight my 5th gear is all messed up. if u try to put it there it just makes a grinding noise. also the car is driven atleast thousand miles every two weeks its a long commute.

Speedo also went out on my 96 neon. Took out the dash and instru panel, cleaned off the contacts and reinserted it in. Worked ok for a few days, then went out again on the highway at night, so i just punched the intru panel towards the dash, and all the dials came back.

If either of these dont help your panel is busted.

OK i had the same problem all u do is take the cluster gauge off and resaider all the little pointy things on the back where the wires go in. If u look at them closely their cracked and just need to be touching.

Sounds like you're having clutch problems, you should check it out. ABout your speedometer... well could be the sensor, a bad speedometer (possible broken solder). About your speedometer... If you're only having problems in 5th gear and the rest are ok then I'd say most likely its your tranny... you're probably better off getting a swap from a junk yard. Try Ebay Ive seen them cheap there but try local pick-up. Also, check for any oil leaks.
