faulty focus ignition cylinder

I have had the ignition cylinder replaced 3 times under warranty, and it still just went bad again.
Since it was out of warranty this time, I took a look at it myself.
It is a really terrible design.
Instead of the tumblers moving up and down to extend beyond the turning cylinder, they push sideways on a spring loaded locking bar.
This really is bad because only tiny springs pushing on the tumblers and pressing on the side of the locking bar move it to the unlocked position.
If anything binds at all, it will not unlock.

If it happens to you, lightly rapping on the cylinder, when the key is inserted, often times helps.
But the part really is deffective in design.

There are 3rd part replacements that are supposed to be better, but an alternative is to remove all the tumblers.
A key still have to be inserted because there is a main release requiring one before turning, and it still will not start without the correct key, due to the transponder antitheft device.
