Warning!! Brake Failure!!

I'm looking to buy new rims. I'm currently using the stock rims on my 1999 Civic DX (185/65/14). The rims I'm looking at (Velox VX-8R) at 16's and come with 205/40/16 tires. I plugged these numbers in at:

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

And when the results came through it said that the diameter difference is 4.31%, and warned me that with a difference of more than 3% you face a risk of brake failure. This is kinda scary.... Does anyone know if this is true? Any insight would be great. Sorry so noobish...

Re: Warning!! Brake Failure!!

no it isnt true. Itll take more effort to brake those larger wheels but dont worry about brake failure. Lots of friends have changed their 15 inch for 18 inch and they have never upgraded their brakes. Its even less of a problem because your only uprading to 16s, not that big. So dont worry about it.

Re: Warning!! Brake Failure!!

Well the brake failure would come from if you had ABS in your car. The ABS computer is controlled by the wheel/tire diameter. Any change in that and the ABS will not work correctly.

Re: Warning!! Brake Failure!!

As long as you keep the same diameter you should be fine.

Like Civics:
185/65x14"
195/55x15"
205/45x16"
