Aurora audio, whose got something nice?

I have a 1996 Olds Aurora and will be completely rebuilding the system in a few weeks. I was wondering what anyone on here might have and if they have pics of the install. I will be posting build pictures on my sounddomain page as I build. So let's see what you all have.

My factory Bose system sounds just fine to me! I also dont have to worry about some punk trying to break into it to steal everything.

I agree with BKVic, I would really leave the radio alone...just change the speakers in the back. I accidently punctured one of the rear factory woofers in the trunk, so I replaced them both with a pair of Infinity 9603i speakers. The system sounded great before, but now it sounds ten times better.

If you had ever heard a real system in an Aurora then you would never consider leaving the factory system in. I have had a few different systems and I would rather go without music than listen to the crappy factory system.

Says who? You? I went through my audio phase a while back, had over $5000 in my 95 Neon Sport Coup when they first came out. IMHO my Bose system sounds just as good. Might not be as loud as my big buck system and has now where near the low end but Im not worried about where Im gonna park it and who's gonna break into it either. I guess Ive grown up, I dont think the measure of my manlyness is related to how load my car is.

Who said anything about manlyness, it has to do with what sounds better. And don't think for a second just because you spent 5 grand that it was a good system. Obviously, if you believe that your Bose system sounds just as good then you wasted your money.

Oh and by the way, no one asked you to post on my thread. This was to see what stereos installs other members might have, not for you to let the world know that you think you are better off with the stock Bose sytem.

Oh, I had a good system, theres no doubt about that. Sony Moble ES head unit, CD changer, equalizer and crossover, Harmon Kardon amps, Boston Pro Series front, rear, and subs. It was a damn good system, sounded much better then the Dodge crap that came with it. Did sound better then the Bose system that is in my Aurora now, probally did. Did it sound $5000 better, hell no! Ive got better things to waste my money on these days that come with a whole lot less headachs. The biggest headach being the punks that want to steal you stuff. Had one buddy while I was going to school that had over $10,000 worth of goodies in his car only to come out after class one day to find it all gone. He had a top of the line Viper security system but they just opened the hood and tore out the siren. Its not worth it to me any more.

The great thing about living in America is that I have the right to free speach. I can post where I want!

Re: Aurora audio, whose got something nice?

I don't have any pics, frankly because it wouldn't do you any good. However I have probably the best sounding Aurora with a factory deck. I wasn't willing to lose my steering wheel controls or the clock for the computer and I wasn't willing to spend the money to make all that work if I replaced the head unit.

What I did was put Polk Audio 6.5 in the front and left the factory tweeters.

Then I put Polk Audio 6x9's in the rear, then Rockford 3.5's in the factory location for the Bose in the rear door speakers.

Hooked it all to Rockford Amps, put in 2 10HE Rockford Subs on another Rockford Amp and its pure music. only about 115db cleanly, thats just fine with me. At 31, I already have my ears hurt at that volume. BTW Quanity of db's is worthless without Quality of db's.

Also unless you look in the trunk, it looks completely stock, with a car that has this much class, to cheapen it up is very sad.

Now that sounds like somthing I might be interested in if I ever did do anything. Keeping my steering wheel controls would be very important and keeping the factory head unit will keep theives away! Did you start out with the factory Bose system or the base system?

Re: Aurora audio, whose got something nice?

I am slowly going to replace my system in my car. So far I have a Sony ES Amp 200x2 for the Audiobahn 6x9s I just purchased, they are component 6X9s. I plan on replacing the tweeters with the ones that come with the 6x9. That is all I will probably do for now unless I feel I need to replace more, I just feel that I could get a better, cleaning sounding system then with the factory system.

Re: Aurora audio, whose got something nice?

I have a non-bose Aurora, glad I do, my brother has a 99 Eldorado with the Bose, while it beats the OEM non-bose, my system puts his to shame. He's unhappy.

Re: Aurora audio, whose got something nice?

weird, I was just going to post a thread about who has systems, how much for a good one, stuff like that.

I want to get some bass in my factory bose. The audio is great, I just dont want rattles when I want to hear some bass.

What is the best bang for the buck when it comes to this....thanks
