My race car.

I'm new to this page, so I guess i'll start by telling you all about my 72 GremlinX race car. I retained the stock sized 304 (mailnly so I can tell big block chevy guys its stock). The 304 is equipt with:
600cfm Holley
Edelbrok performer intake
ARP intake bolts
Worked over heads: Stock valve size, mild port, 3 angle valve job, Crane springs and retainers, Comp push rods and roller rockers, ARP head bolts.
Double Roller timing chain
472-496 lift cam
Ported exhaust manifolds
stock cast bottom end

The Trans:
A 998 with shift kit and houghs tourque converter 3000 stall

The car itself weights 2780 @ race weight (me in it and a 1/4 tank of gas). It's pretty gutted out though retaing most of the stock dash. Carpet, door panels, head liner, and any air conditioning stuff you can think of removed from interior and engine bay. Two kirky race seats, and a hurst floor shifter were added along with a fire extinguisher. Winsheild wipers and mechanism have also been removed.

Rear End:
AMC model 20 with a Detroit locker and 4.11 gears

Before the gears, locker, and converter the car ran low 14's and 98mph with a 2.90 rear gear and open diff. Now I'm planning to break into the 12's with some sticky tires. The car is a load of fun when i'm not having to work on it. 30 years in AZ will do that to any car though.

Re: My race car.

That sounds like quite a car there. I always thought AMC's were thoroughly underrated. Their light weight, large engine bays and relatively strong construction make them a great race car choice.

Low 14's must mean 14.6...and hoping for the 12's?!...thought you told me it went 12.4?!...what happened to that?
