Help! Synthetic motor oil or Regular?

Hello all! I'm a newbee to the website so here is my question.
I recently had an oil change on my RSX Type S and was wondering if i should spend the extra money on a synthetic motor oil? Is it really worth the money and if so what are the benefits that some of you had experienced when making the switch?

Re: Help! Synthetic motor oil or Regular?

Mostly all new cars should run on sythentic motor oil. Regular oil is ok as long as you change it on time. Since day 1, I have put Mobil 1 5W-30 in my type S.

Re: Synthetic vs Regular motor oil

Okay, all the Mobile Oil's are the best for the RSX and i like how maddchop when to 5w-30, however, you should stick to regular motor oil for the breakin period, in other words, for the first 3-5 thousand miles keep the original oil in and make sure it's non-sythetic....the reason is that regular petroleom oil binds to the parts and leaves a good film on the matallic engine parts which is good for breakin. After about 5k miles, you can make the switch to mobile synthetic and you should be okay. OH yeah, and the 0w-20 oil by MObile that says is okay for 5w-20 engines, you can use this and it is really great for fast accelerations. I would prefer this for any turbocharged RSX, and despite what people may say, it will not burn up and degrade the quality of the oil in 500 miles at high rev's. YOu'll be okay at the regular intervals for turbo engines, which is 2000-2500 miles.
