1:18 scale McLaren F1 (pics!!!)

Here are a few pics of my McLaren F1 from UT Models. Very nice diecast. Maybe not as good as AutoArt and nowhere near as good as Exoto!!! But nicely detailed. I would kill for the 1:12 scale version

Don't mind the toothpick in this pic

Paint the toothpick black. Some of my models need them to keep the decklid closed, and painting it flat black makes it look alot better.

lol...I guess I should paint it black. I'll probably just make some door and engine props from spare tree sprue's that I've kept.

jcz1987: I've had this for about 4 years now. It was a Christmas gift. However my LHS was selling them at the time. Didn't have the money then. I would have bought the Orange LM version as well as the race versions. My brother has the GTR "long-tail" I believe its called?? I'll post some pics of it tommorow. My LHS also had the 1:12 scale version a year after I got mine but it was $300 CND

I have that exact one. The 1/18 UT McLaren F1 streetcar is probably one of the most sought after items around. The quality is the best out of all of the 1/18th McLarens. If you're lucky enough to find one, its gonna cost you.

Looks great though man. Wish mine wasn't broken.

Well here it is..my bro's McLaren F1 GTR "long tail". I don't know much about the real version but I believe this "long tail" was meant as a road version rather than the race version. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Man, you are one lucky S.O.B. I would love to have that F1 road car. I've got the Guiloy LM, called the worst 1:18 model ever, and the Maisto F1, probably the second worst F1 model ever. But on the other hand, I have a very nice 1:12 F1 That UT one looks like it's amazing quality.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah I guess I am pretty lucky I have it. Both are from UT but the GTR seems to be lacking brake calipers I want to detail the F1 a bit more. I have some gold colored foil so i'll try and line the engine compartment with it You'd think that THE best supercar EVER made would have tons of models and diecasts available but it doesn't After all, look how many Skyline models there are!!!! Tamiya should really consider making a fully detailed version of the F1, LM, and GTR in both plastic and diecast Sort of like an anniversary edition!!!

Re: Re: 1:18 scale McLaren F1 (pics!!!)

The reason not much models of it exist is that to manufacture a model, you must get the rights to make it and McLaren charges a very steep amount for the rights.

BTW, I noticed that T\/\/iN-Tu|2Bo's F1 had license plates on it while eweston's doesnt...whats the story behind that?

The reason mine has a license plate is because I put one on I can't remember if it was from my 1:24 scale Jaguar XJ220 of Ferrari F50? Either way it's not to scale I guess but it I just thought it gave it some detail. I also colored in the tail pipes and roof intake black as well. A few other things I think need some more detail. I guess eweston17's are worth more because his are all original Plus he's got two F1's!!! Who's the lucky SOB now!!!

BTW: Nice McLaren's eweston17

Ut models

hey guys
im new to the forum, but i cam across it trying to search for more info on UT Mclaren Models. I came accross one by chance a couple years ago, but then i heard UT went out of business and its been very hard to track these models down - especially living in england, on ebay.co.uk youre looking to pay a premium of around $120 per model =/
I own 2 models so far and i have a couple more on the way - but i what i really want to know is is there anywhere or does anyone know of the complete list of the Mclaren UT Models (1/18)?
I would much appreciate any info - thanks
