new (to me) '95 Windstar

I just bought a '95 Windstar, and although my brother- & sister-in-law have a '98 that has been great, I am pretty unfamiliar with them. If anyone could give me an idea of some quircks these vans have, I'd appreciate it.

I may be new to Windstars, but not to this forum, I posted a few times on the Jetta pages

On the van I bought, to my knowledge, the only 3 things "wrong" with it are 1) needs O2 sensor, 2) intermittent door locks (and that appears to be quite "normal" for Windstars, and 3) silly Sunflower paint that covers the whole van (except windshield & 2 front windows)

Re: new (to me) '95 Windstar

They blow head gaskets every 60,000.They blow transmissions up.I was told by the transmission shop that rebuilt our trans that the problem with them is they run too hot.The trans cooler that the factory installed was not big enough. We had a local repair shop install an aftermarket transmission cooler for $150.You could do the work your self and save some money. They sell really nice add on coolers at most performance shops. You can also get one at most part stores.
PS:We never had any trans trouble after we installed the cooler

Read some where about some one having 02 sensor codes because of the head gaskets staring to go bad.

The brakes were messed up from the time we got the van as well.

We had a clunk in the front right.Read somewhere else they had a recall.A spring or some thing.

You know about the oil filter. LOL
