94 3.8 LaSabre Fuel Starvation

94 LaSabre Fuel Starvation

Would not start, plenty spark but no fuel. Replaced fuel pump, strainer & fuel filter. Started but under full acceleration seems to starve for fuel. Now have a no start condition again.
Any help would be much appreciate.

Re: 94 3.8 LaSabre Fuel Starvation

The possibility exists that the removal of the fuel tank caused a problem with debris in the filters. I have seen the replacement of the pump cause problems due to dirt. Do your troubleshooting over again, looking for the fuel pressure. It is also possible for an electrical problem to cause the new pump to operate incorrectly. Ray

Re: 94 3.8 LaSabre Fuel Starvation

Thanks michelq & RABarrett for your help.
As to fuel starvation here’s the story.
After installing a new AC Delco fuel pump, purchased from AutoZone, the new pump was defective and was not the current model. I purchased another pump from a GM dealer complete with strainer. BTW the latest pump (AC Delco 88962472, pump) appears to be a better pump, very quiet.
With pump installed & tank on the garage floor, I connected lines & started my LaSabre and it runs like a dickey bird. De-fueled and proceeded to install tank in car-all is well.
