How does this happen?

I just clear coated over the decals and this is what happened.


any suggestions?I think its the new clearcoat I bought its the krylon clear.

Krylon Clear is an Acrylic Laquer and I am guessing you painted your model with Enamel. You cannot put laquer over enamel. Krylon Clear is very hot chemically speaking and I would not use it on models. Try using Tamiya Paints and Clear. Or just use wax over the decals.

very carefully, lol. prolly just add a clear coat or two over the decals-should hold them on-but then don't rub too hard.

no, pman is saying how to use wax without a clear coat, he doesnt like clear coats...

Once the decals are firmly in place and left for a day or two to dry, just wax (Tamiya) over them with a soft cloth to remove any water marks that have been left behind. If the decal has been applied correcty it shouldn't lift off.

I had the same problem with Tamiya clear (the lacquer one (spray), not the acrylic one (bottle)). So don't use Tamiya clear lacquer over enamel !

Well as long as you use a non abrasive wax you're fine. I think Tamiya Wax and 'The Final Detail' are abrasive. For a nonabrasive wax I use Concours P-21 wax, pure Carnauba/beeswax loveliness.

Why not just use Future as your clear coat? I usually lay down a coat of Future (let it dry for a week), then apply decals (Let that dry for 3 days), then apply the final coat of Future. Works like a charm.
