Question silverado compass/temp rearview mirror

I have located a rearview mirror from an Avalanche and want to install it in my '99 Silverado. It is the mirror with compass/temp display. What do I need to do? I was thinking the wiring was under the trim on all models. Is the sending unit for the temp already on my pickup and does it interface with the ECM at all?

Hey now !

First find out what color wires they are.

1. Are there the same number of wires? - probably two more for the temp

2. What is the color combination?

Does the mirror show external and internal temp?

If so then won't you need those sensors?

Re: silverado compass/temp rearview mirror

my 97 silverado only has the compass not the temp so you may have to run wires if it is the same style as the 97

Re: silverado compass/temp rearview mirror

I installed the temp compass mirror on my 1999.the mirror was from a 2001 silverado. I had to run two wires from mirror to front of truck and buy a sensor $20 at chevy dealer and a plug to sensor from ac delco parts $20.There was a harness under the over head but it is only a three wire these wires will run compass and auto dim but i needed a 7 wire plug ac delco parts sells the plug or e-bay.the mirror is not hooked into ecm.hope that helps.

I'm doing the very same thing to my '01. The wiring and 7 pin plug was already tucked up in the headliner but there is no sensor in front of the radiator. Will have to pick one up somewhere and either wire it into the harness or as someone posted a while back, to a plug under the dash by the steering wheel. Currently awaiting delivery of a new mirror. The GM part number for the mirror is 15067746. The sensor is 15047946.
This shouldn't be too tough. I'll let you all know how it works out.
