Unhappy Electrical Problems!! Please help!

I have a 95 Jetta GLS with three problems. The radio, air circulation button, and the heated seats are all not working. If anyone knows the what to do or have a suggestion please let me know.

Have you checked the fuses? The button would be difficult to fix, try finding a used heater-A/C controls unit. Heater element in the seats will go bad if its not the fuses.

Re: Electrical Problems!! Please help!

I checked the fuses and relays, all good. I called VW in my area they said possible vaccuum leak on vent system for the a/c & heater vent system, cig lighter could be bad, radio could be burnt out and the seats bad, just like you said. I 'll try replacing the cig lighter, the seats I could care less, radio; installing a new one anyway soon, but the vent system is my only real head ache. Any other suggestions?

Re: Electrical Problems!! Please help!

Your car might have a "hidden" fuse for the cig/radio which would be in a holder above the main relay center. Is the problem with the button itself or that it doesn't do anything when switched? Does it have a light which comes on/off? If it's that the button's broken, find a used unit. If the button's fine but it's not making the flap move then check the vacuum hoses from the engine intake manifold to the passenger compartment. There should be a check (one-way) valve in there too. If all the hoses are okay you will need to see if you get vacuum to the vacuum diaphragm that controls the flap, and work back from there.

Re: Electrical Problems!! Please help!

The button works fine, when I engage the button the light does come on and what sounds like a humming noise semms to come from the dash area in the cabin. Which to me sounds like a vacuum leak. I checked the hoses from the intake manifold to the engine compartment, I assume there fine from what I can tell. I can't seem to find a vacuum diaphragm as you suggested. Also where in the cabin do I look?

Re: Electrical Problems!! Please help!

I'd say follow the humming noise. The flap actuator should be on the right side behind the glove box (Mexican produced car) or passenger knee bar (German). If the noise is coming from the center near the controls it's probably in the switch control valve behind the buttons.

Caution installing new stereo look-up on the k-15 wire if your car is so equipped

At least I think it's called k-15, if you connect it to aftermarket stereo it is said it will fry the OBDII contrller
