rtv or indianhead on head gasket?
I was just wondering if it would be good to use indianhead or rtv on head gasket it says x in the shop manual meaning no liquid gasket but i think it would be good to use some. what do u think?

No, you replace the head gasket, you can't just put RTV on it. THe "X" in the FSM is probably pointing to the head gasket, meaning to throw it away and replace it with a new one. NOT rtv.

RTV sealent is not made to with stand the heat of the block or the water pressure that the head gasket is subjected to. Plus if you put RTV on the surface where the headgasket gose there is a possiblilty that some of it will drip into the water jacket and into the cylinder. RTV=no for headgasket. Well its a good thing that you asked before you did something really not too smart.

ive seen it done with some aplications using red rtv i also herd of somthing called indian head whish is suposted to be good. anyone hered of anything good for better seal so i dont have to go through this again.. also i am not even planing on reusing the gasket you misinterpreted thelinja

correct me if im wrong but the headgasket alone should be enough to seal everything as long as the head is torqued down to specs.
