Angry 2003 Malibu Problems

I got a brand new 2003 Malibu in December of 03, right before the new year with 93 miles. It ran fine for the first few weeks, no problems at all. A few weeks ago, I went to start up the car and it would not start up. It would turn over, but not start. No fuel was going to the engine, and I had to have it towed. The next day, the dealership called to tell me nothing was wrong with the car, and that I could pick it up. This afternoon, I start up the car and it runs fine. I parked it, and tried to start it up tonight, and had the same problem. It won't start no matter what I do. Once again, it the engine does not seem to be getting any fuel, and the gas gauge does not move when I try to turn it on, and the red light below the gas gauge comes on. This is totally unacceptable for a new car in my eyes. I drove an 87 celebrity for years, and never had that happen once, but within a month and a half and only 1500 miles, this has happened twice.

I sympathise with you on this one. Call the dealership up and talk to the Service Manager and explain the situation to him. If you are not far from the dealership, they will send some one over to give it a quick check. Because, once you tow the vehicle, and go over a bump, whatever is causing your problem, resets it self and by the time it gets to the dealership, it starts and it makes real difficult (especially in these situations) to pin point and fix the problem. Anyway, talk to them. Second time around they will give it more attention.
Good Luck.

Re: 2003 Malibu Problems

I had this problem too with mine. I bought it used with 40k miles and all the sudden it wouldn't start. Dealership thought it was a fuel pump at first but it turned out it was a computer chip in the engine or something. Was yours the same problem?

Tell them to fix it and fix it right. Tell them that this is your absolute last GM vehicle you will ever own. and finally get rid of the car a soon as the warranty is off. Yelling loudly in a crowded showroom helps too.

And you better get compensated for the tow
