fussy lil' saturn

I got a 95(?) .. I mean come on its got 4 Doors.. and like Saturn doesn't exactly enforce model image. Truthfully I don't know what type it is..I guess its an SC(?).. anyways .. its got the ol' Twin Cam 4 banger...

Anyway heres the problem I've got.. I can rev her up all day long to about 3000 - 3500 RPM... and won't have any trouble what so ever.. Now I go out on the highway and go highway speeds.. ('bout 55 to 60 mph..) be running for about.. 3 minutes.. or so.. and the slightest touch of the brakes.. (like at a redlight.. or stop sign) and she dies on me..

I'm running Supreme gas, just replaced the filter, and added some fuel injector cleaner..

Anyone else had any trouble resembling this?...

Any ideas?..

Thanks.

Re: fussy lil' saturn

are you sure youre throwing the car into neutral when you stop? (if its a manual)

oh and if its an SC its only got two doors.

if its an automatic, i may have the solution for you, even though you may not like it. you may need a transmission overhaul. my mothers minivan had the same problem. the transmission would slip out of drive and into neutral after the car heated up for a few minutes. quite scary. best bet is to take it to a repair shop.

Re: fussy lil' saturn

your biggest problem is you bought a saturn dont worry i made that mistake to. anyways what is it stick or auto. im guessing auto. sounds like a tranny problem to me not sure though. and if you just added fuel injector cleaner that could be it to. cleaners and additives are gonna make the cars run a lot worse while they are still in the tank. you could have gotten bad gas to thats always a possibility less likely since you got high grade but who knows

Its an auto... and the tranny is fine... I'm thinking .. it could be one of the sensors? ... like the throttle.. or o2?....

Re: fussy lil' saturn

im guessing the tn is for tennesse try it in minnesota when it snows twice a week. plus why spend the money on new snow tires. plus they wouldnt work on my 18. plus i live at the top of a hill which i cant get up with the camaro if there is any snow on the ground. but then again this isnt about my camaro in the garage this is about how saturns suck. dont fix it get rid of it thats what im doin.

Cool

It snows pretty good here in tennessee, and the winters are cold, rainy, and icy... nothing like minesotta...too cold for me.

I keep a dry tire package and a winter tire package, I use Firestone Firehawks in the summer.. and switch to a set of Michelin Agility's in the winter...

I got "un-poor" enough to buy two sets of wheels, with tires which makes it easier...

Anyways got to looking and found out it was the throttle position sensor, Saturn kind of forgot to tell me that those on this series always go bad :|

"bite meh Saturn"

Saturns are good for church girls, and like girls who don't care.
I'm trying tog et my gf to get a Lancer.. or something.

Lightbulb dieing when you let off gas

Proable is you idle sensore. This may help if that is what it is take the
air intake off at air intake manafold get a can of gum out spray not
the kind you pore in fuel tank you need the spray keep car running
at pretty high rpm try not to let it die spray the gum out into the
air intake manafold in till there in no black ring around better fly valve.
that should clean the idle sensore an make it stop doing the dieing.
If not the idle sensore is locadid right at the bottom off intake manafold
where you sprayed the gum out. My was doing the same thing I could
let it set a idle all day but if reved it up and let off fast it would die
even just goneing down highway let off gas an it would die. Run find
now. One other thing you can check is the alternater low chargeing
will make car run bad to. The main wire should have same volts as
batter like 12/13 volts at all time with the car not running the other
two wires that plug in should have same with the key on but not
running if thats good start car turn ever thing on light, heater blower,
all you can think off that runs on elc if volts drop you got charging
proble. With the car running you should get around 14/15 volts
from alternater I just got a new one it runs at around 15 volts. Hope this
helps
