Re: wats the difference between rb25 and rb26
you should really do some research in here if you don't know which is which...
rb25 is a single turbo, rb26 is TT. there's more to it, but you can find that in here, or in the performance forum |

Quote:
1 extra turbo Solid lifters in RB26 (RB25 has hydraulic) My guess is that it would be quicker to list the similarities than the differences. Physically there pretty much the same dimensions though. RB26 may be a bit wider. A RB26 will fit a 240SX just nicely

Re: wats the difference between rb25 and rb26
Actually there's not 100cc difference - it's only 70cc.
![]() Both are inline 6 turbo engines. Both cast iron block and alloy (?) head. The RB26DETT is 2568cc, with solid lifters, individual throttle butterflies, and twin turbos. The RB25DET is 2498cc, with single throttle and single turbo. Engine management will be different, the RB26 I would think would have a better flowing head. It also has a front mount intercooler in the GTR, with a nice plenum, whereas the RB25DET is paired with a teensy little intercooler stuck off the side, and the intake goes over the top of the engine. The runners therefore are shorter on the GTR - apparently better for top-end power, but less so for low-end torque. Basically, the differences can probably best be summed up as the RB26DETT being a race engine in a road car. You drive it hard, but it's made to take that, and will definitely reward you for it (though it's perfectly happy lugging around quietly too). The RB25DET is more aimed at those of us who like a quick and reasonably powerful car (or engine), but that's as far as it goes.
