Question about motor swap

I have a 91 crx automatic. I want to do a motor swap, whats the best motor to swap it with. If I have to change to a stick i will. I'm looking for speed and I want to do it right the first time. I dont want to do it one way any someone say this way would have been better

Re: Question about motor swap

everyone has their own opinion on speed and swaps.....I'd put a B20 in there....build the bottom end up a bit....then boost it....perhaps run a Vtec Head......right now I roll with an LS swap....140 hp aint bad.....but Im going to boost this......If you want NA...then do a B16....cheep and easy....if you want expensive and fast....then do the H22.....ask Frostee....he did it.

if you wanted to do things right, you should have gotten a manual CRX lol. i would do a b18 swap if i were you, or a b20

I feel like a broken record...

It depends on what you want, and what your budget is. You could do a DOHC ZC, or SOHC VTEC (D16Z6 or D16Y8) swap for less than a grand. Or you could go DOHC VTEC (B16A/B, B18C1/5), or DOHC non-VTEC (B18A, B20) for between $1k & $3k....

There's honestly so many variables that you have to be a little more specific about what you want/can afford before we can really help you out.

Re: Question about motor swap

you could always do it better.

you could have a turbo b18c5 and still do better with a turbo 2.4 I-VTEC (yes i said 2.4.. you can swap in the other honda blocks..)

Re: Question about motor swap

UM first check the FAQ at the top of the forum. And with that amount of money id put in a h22 turbo. But thats me. (but it would be hard to fit a turbo in it!)

I think the next question is what do you want to do with the car? Auto-X, strip, daily driver,......because something like an h22 in a 4th gen civic/crx (IMO, based on what I have read) isn't the best to drive enless you are a very skilled driver, and even then is more suited to the drag strip, so something like a b series might be better if you want it as a daily driver.......

I want to use it for everyday use but i want the speed there, so far my idea from what i read it going to be a b20 VTECH and maybe a tubo if it can fit and maybe a few mods to the motor, like a new cam lifters and valves

Re: Question about motor swap

its V-TEC...its okay still learning like some of us...lol... yes a b20 turbo will fit...wont fit a/c or power steering..i right in the middle of this all...going b20 turbo i suggest resleeve bored over 20,eagle h beams rods, arias pistons 8.5-1, with a b16a head put on some valves like skunk2,retainers and springs i go crower, go turbo skunk2 cams and you be set to pretty much take on almost any v8 on the street...
