S-10 rear brake rotor removal

I'm new to this forum and could use some help. I need to replace the driver side brake rotor (let the pads go to long). Anyway I can't just pull the rotor because of the internal park brake. HELP?!?!?!?

I don't think any '95 S10's have disk brakes on the rear. Are you talking about the brake drum? If the answer is yes, then the drum will come off if the parking brake is not set. It won't be easy, you may need to hammer it carefully (so you don't break the drum).

Before you attempt a removal, use a wire brush on the axle where the drum fits over the axle. Removing the rust/scale will make the drum easier to get off.

I don't know about your particular year but most rear drums have two threaded holes in them that allows a bolt to screw in that seperates it from the brake pads.

On my 98 blazer the rotors wear all rusted to the hub pilot, Parking break cleared fine
3 lb hammer and wd40,
One of the front needed heat to get it off.

Hope this helps

Re: S-10 rear brake rotor removal

Thanks for the help. Ended up using a wheel puller to remove the rotor. NOT REAR DRUMS!
