Old brochures

There aren't as many Pontiac & Mopar sites around, compared to Chevy & Ford, so it's good to come across a nice one every now and then

Thumbs up

Thanks for the heads up. I am sure that if we keep sharing sites the Firebird cause will be advanced. Please try out the following 2nd gen 301 Turbo site, the finest of its kind in the World, bar none. Enjoy it before the University of Western Ontario realise that website usage alloted for academic purposes has been used to advance a personal interest in Pontiacs

This is a great site about 2nd Gen Trans Ams. I haven't found a better one yet.

Thanks, Those are really great. The other website I like is www.musclecarclub.com. I found the other one while doing a research paper on 2nd Gen T/As.

Great site! BTW this is for those into imports.

1974 SD 455 Trans Am (underquoted rating 290 bhp)

Vs

1974 Honda Civic RS (76 bhp)

Can you say fast & furious? What about spirited & mildly angry?

Nobody in that civic could touch the SD 455. I don't think that anybody in a 2004 civic could beat the '73-'74 Trans Am.

Yes, despite advances in technology, no stock standard Honda Civic of any year, probably not even the Type R version (which is only available in Japan and some other countries) can accelerate as quickly as a SD 455 car for 0-60 & 1/4 mile.
Going back to 1973/74 there were some tests of the SD 455 that put it into the 13s as a stock standard automatic unleaded car, I'm guessing that even with its 5 speed gearbox and high octane Japanese gasoline that the 1974 Civic RS would have got mid 18s, not bad at all for a car of that era, but it wouldn't have troubled the Trans Am.
