I know that a K & N air filter is supposed to help the performance of your truck. My question is are they really better. Can you tell any big differance in performance. I have even had someone tell me that they allow to much air and could cause dirt to get into your motor.
Also if you buy one are they good as new after you recharge the? Thanks Matt |

Re: K & N air filter, worth the money?
The K&N FIPK is what you want. You can really tell a differance in preformance. And, if you remove the screen from the MAF it's even more noticeable. The next step in my opinion would be to get a Superchips or similar programmer. That makes a big differance also.

Re: K & N air filter, worth the money?
I've used K & N filters in all of my vehicles for several years now and have never had any problems. You will notice better performance and your fuel mileage should improve. Recharging the filter does not affect the filter's performance. I agree with Sonny and go with a chip and get a nice Flowmaster or Flowtech muffler(s).

I put one on my 99 Silverado 5.3L about a year ago. The intake makes more noise, so it would seem to have more airflow, but have not had any increase in gas mileage.
