|
turbo timer with alarm
hey has anybody out there put a turbo timer on thier 2g eclipse with an aftermarket alarm. im installin a blitz dual dc II on my eclipse and need a good aftermarket alarm. any sugesstions on how to make the two work with each other?????

you shouldn't have a problem with both of them working independently of each other. atleast i've never e ncountered a problem with the 2 when i've installed viper and avital systems. as far as making them work together i don't kno how to do that. all i can tell you is that they shouldn't affect each other if you have them both installed...and if you looking for a good alarm cheap go fot the avital but if your willing to spend the money go for the viper 791 vx ... and you can get it for 245 bucks at www.savinglots.com. it also has the auto start...if you don't wan't the remote start then you can get the viper 690 and i believe you can get that at savinglots also

Hey guys,
I just intalled the Blitz DTT DCII in my car and it doesn't work with my aftermarket alarm system. I have a Clifford G4 Intelligaurd 6000 security system. Does anyone know how to make the turbo timer work with the alarm? I searched the site already and vfaq for help, but didn't find anything.

I just got my Viper 791xv, and it has a built in turbo timer. You cannot use your aftermarket timer with that. The Viper and Clifford BOTH have programmable run times....factory default is 1 minute, but go to a dealer and they bitwrite it to an available 3, 5, 7 or 10 minutes.
while the key is in the ignition, press the star and aux buttons together. then take the key out. This is how it workls on my viper, and since DEI owns all these other makes (including your clifford) i dont expect it to be a lot more different. I know for a fact that the G5 comes with a timer, not sure about G4. There are several sites that offer a download of a manual in PDF for alarms. but yeah, the aftermarket TT has to go.

I went to Custom Car Alarms and they hooked up a relay device to allow the turbo timer to work with my clifford alarm.

Are the built in turbo timers as good as the other ones like Greddy though? Don't the greddy and others read your rpm and calculate how much time you need and all that other fancy stuff? Btw, I pulled on a piece of electrical tape coming out from below my steering wheel and guess what fell out? A greddy turbo timer. There's just a frickin birds nest of orange wires under there though so I am really confused on how to get it working.

The extra modes can adjust the turbo timer to accomodate how long I've been driving, or how hard I drove (add more cooling down time depending on level of boost measured in hkPa). The timer also has lap timer, stop watch, and a warning alarm if you go over a certain boost setting. I don't know about other alarm systems with built-in turbo timer, but my clifford tt doesn't have those features.

from what i know, all the extra features that the greddy/ apexi, blitz, etc. offer on thier turbo timers are kinda a joke. the clifford with built in tt is straight forward. when you install the alarm, you set the time you want to cooldown. i think it goes up to like 10 min. then you park your car. press 2 buttons at the same time on the clifford remote(that arms the tt) and then you pull out your key. so you can set it for like 2 min and if you need to let it cool down more just wait like an extra min before you trigger it.
