Pull of the shift boot and take a look at where the shifter cables connect to the bottom of the shifter, i know they break a lot under abouse.

Re: 95 saturn, 5 speed, tranny click when shifting???
get in side the car and remove the shifter boot, then look down inside the console and you will see the bottom of the shifter. See if the connection where the cables meet the boot is cracked, or poorly repaired, if that is not it then it it may be the synchronizers or the clutch. No matter which of these it is, none are a cheap fix (unless you go to the jjunkyard and do everything yourself). If I were you, i would look at another Saturn because you can find a good running one for under $1000 and My Saturn has 215,000 miles with no problems. They are also "quick" for a 4 cylinder. ( I beat alot of 305 Camaros, and one 5.0 mustang, and have never lost against a 4 cylinder non turbo before
