Sketching, need crits...

These are quick sketches, need some crits, thanks all.

BTW they're all the same images, just different hosts.

Wut AnsisK

Nice sketches. Now I am not trying to be too picky, but I see the cast shadows comming towards the right side of the car, those some sides should be darker due to the light comming from the other side.

Does that make sense?

Anyway great drawings.
I cannot draw from my imagination like you.

You know what you could just decrease the cast shadow and imply a shadow on the other side.

As far as the design I think they are pretty cool. I like the top one the best.

Re: Sketching, need crits...

I totally understand what you mean with the light sources, I know I kind of bent the way it should be, but I was focusing on technique more than the little details. I understand though. While doing them, I had the long drop shadow in the foreground, implying that the light is behind the car, but the shadows on the surface tell another story... Regardless, it is a recognized mistake, it is important to know what I am doing wrong. Thanks all, anyone else?

Re: Sketching, need crits...

I think there very good , the only thing you should work on is maybe try detailing your rims , they are a bit flat not as 3d as the rest of the car , other wise SWEET !

Re: Sketching, need crits...

The wheels are the least of my concern. I'd rather draw an entire new sketch of a whole car than waste 15 minutes detailing the rims...

I feel you on that but you might as well spend the extra time on it now so it will take much less time next time. i know it was just a sketch, but you should not think just because it is minor detail that it would be a waste anything you can do to add flair to a drawing is a plus IMO. By the way great sketch homie, and the rims are fine I just wanted to point out the rims are apart of the car.

Re: Sketching, need crits...

I understand. I can draw them good, but it just takes a while. If the rest of the drawing is spectacular and I don't want the quick wheels to weigh the whole page down, then I'll add in the rims...

Re: Sketching, need crits...

your wheels are actually not bad, but watch baselines. make sure front and rear wheels are on the same plane. the top sketch is problematic there. wheels are what cars are about and even slightly "off" looking rims can ruin the drawing.

make the cars wider. they are too skinny to seat 2 front passengers comfortably. i make the same mistakes, too. but these are just the prelim sketches.

cheers.")
