Z28 is just the name of a specific RPO code. In this case, the RPO code is a performance package.

Re: what does Z28 stand for??

yup, just happen stance, just like Z71 is the off road option on the silverado, and Z24 is the performance (giggle) option for the cavalier, Z28 was just the next number in the list back in 1969 when the new option was created for a 302cid V8 and all the other goodies. it was such a force of nature, that the RPO code became how the car was known.

Noobie here, but for those of you that don't know, RPO meanr Regular Production Order. We call 'em options or packages now, but the factory still uses RPO.
