Projector Headlights

Alright first let me appologize if this has been asked and answered before.. I did use the search feature and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I'm looking into getting a set of projector lights for the 91 hatch and I was wondering for those of you that have them.. where did you get them from and would you recommend me to get them from there as well.

I'm looking for good quality. I don't want a carbon fiber background. I'm looking for clears but maybe will settle for a black background. I would not like blue lenses or Halo's. Even if your projectors have these items but you know the place you boght them has other options please let me know where you got em.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

I got mine off eBay. They're just the regular old projectors - black (not carbon fiber). They're advertised as '88-91, but the ones I got were for a '88-89. To make them work in my '90 I had to modify my stock headlight brackets quite a bit. They work with your stock bulbs (though you could always buy aftermarket if you wanted) and the light output/light pattern is awesome. I love mine... Definitely one of my better investments for the car.

Re: Projector Headlights

While were on the topic of projectors, What's the deal with getting them for the sedan? I seem to recall ppl saying you had to modify the bracket or something. Can anyone shine some light on this?

All of the 4g headlight housings are the same. The brackets only vary by year, and that's only due to the way the different year corner lights attach. Depending on what year you have (ie. '88-89, or '90-91) would - ideally - determine which projectors to get.

Basically it doesn't matter. I mean, if you have a '90-91 (like I do) and end up getting '88-89 projectors (like I did), they will still work. All you have to do is use a Dremel with a cut-off wheel & open up the back of the bracket to clear the (larger) projector housing.

All of the wiring, bulbs, etc... are the same.

Re: Projector Headlights

CZ-R can you post a picture of what your car looks like during the day. I'm curious as to what the black background appears like against the body color of the car. If it's not too much to ask.. you got a picture of the light pattern at night from the driver seat ?

I'll post a pic or two of what the headlights look like on the car during the daylight when I get off work. I don't have any pics of the light pattern at night time. Even if I took some they probably wouldn't turn out very good because my windshield is tinted...

Why would cops give a shit about projectors? They're perfectly legal - day or night. Trust me, I've gotten ticket for the most trivial stuff you could think of and not one of the cops have said a damn thing about my projectors.
