'84 Won't Start Please help

I have a 1984 cutlass cierra. I am really confused on what is happening with it. The car will start sometimes and won't start at others. There doesn't seem to be any consistancy on when in starts and when it doesn't.
When it starts nothing happens either. I just turn the key and no engine lights come on and the engine does nothing. But the headlights come on still so it isn't the battery. But then the next day or even 5 minutes later sometimes it will start. It had been only not starting in the morning but then today it didn't start in the afternoon.
Please I need any help I can get!! I am willing to try out different theories.

check the wires runnin to your starter. in the cutlass supreme the starter is under the car. a real messy job but its worth it cuz u gain knowlage and your wallet stays plump. i dont know where the starter is in the cierra.
