Unhappy Ram Blown Trasnmission

Hi all, I've got a 2000 Ram 1500 - my Tranny blew a few weeks back . started slipping and just gave up.I tought it wierd as I just had the fuild serviced. $ 2800 later for a rebuild I thought I'd check with the guy who changed the fuild.I asked him what fuild he put in and why he didnt change the filter. He said he flushed it and filled with Dextron 3. I told him that tranny takes ONLY ATF4 PLUS. Well he denies that put Dextron in my tranny caused it to fail . I've read alot about using only the Mopar recommended fluild .Any opinions greatly appreciated, any Tranny mechanics opinions would be great.
Thanks in advance
Dom

fluid

Lots of luck with this one. Check with Chrysler service and ask them to consider the way you use you vehicle to the fact someone put Dexron 3 in it. If it voids a warranty with Chrysler maybe you can prove your case. You'll probably have to go to court to get it solved. Then again I've been wrong before.

Re: Ram Blown Trasnmission

Finding a good mechanic that knows his stuff is very difficult and even then THEY make mistakes. So going to the local jiffy joint has provided many a story since that is where a lot of neir-do-wells seem to wind up because they can unscrew an oil filter. When you do find a good mechanic, treat him VERY well.

that transmission has had problems from the get-go/// in 4wd application
the o/d assy puts a heavy load on the foreward clutch,,causing it to fail
especially if the driver is aggressive
The fwd/direct clutches ,,actually is the OLD TF-8 design,,which was pretty bullit proof/// the oil change to mopar 4 allowed better clutch
clamping ability,,to make-up for poor engineering design.
