1st car need help

95 escort LX I have a 1995 ford escort LX hatchback 1.9L 5 speed manuel and first of all, the seatbelton the drivers side is stuck and doesn't move back and forth when I open and close my door. What can I do? Second, I would just like to know what I can do to make it faster. You know, just to give it some more umph. Any help is much appreciated.
Thank You

Re: 1st car need help

The seat belt doesnt go in and out? Is it automatic belts? If so somethings buggered in the track , cheap to fix. Lemme know if its the auto belt desighn.

Want some extra jam huh , cam shafts and intake exhaust work make a huge difference and is affordable. If you choose the cams , you may or may not need a fuel pump upgrade or better injectors. Hope that helps.

Quick and simple ummph getter is t remove the air restrictor at the base of the filter box.Take it completely out of the car and throw at a passing cat.You will notice a little increase

Re: 1st car need help

The 1.9 was a dog. Swap it out for a 2.0L SPI...better hp and torque. the 2.0 can be turbo'd to make 200hp if done right (talk to Jeffescortlx about a turbo on that engine)

Yeah It is the auto belt design. I learned a lot more since I first bought my car. The cable that pulled the belt back was broken so I just pulled the buckle down and left it. I took out the original air filter and put a high flow cone filter on the stock airhose with a M.A.F. adapter. I took out the resister chip that I had because it was slowing me down at high RPM's. Now with just those little improvements my car beats an automatic ZX2 . not the escort ZX2 but a new ZX2. and I raced an Escort GT the other day and stayed dead even with him. Even after my shitty start. I'm not thinking about an engine swap. Everything under my hood is new exept for my alternator. I have another problem though. When I take off fast there is a kind of squeaking noise from the wheels.
It sounds Kinda like when you need new brake padsbut not exactly the same. A friend of mine said it could be the joints. But he didn't say which joints. Civic or U or what? Can someone help? Thanx
