Is it worth it?

I found a car that is believed to be a 1991 or so RX-7. I dont really know anything about it other than it is in really good condition and its dark gray in color.

An old woman has had it in her yard for some time now, and she is selling it for a mere 600 bucks. Sound like a good deal?
Im going later to check out the engine and im going to check the compression, if its worth it!

And the only reason im buying it is for something to drive, between the time i sell my eclipse and buy a 240. Then ill part it out, or sell as a whole depending on condition, and get my $$$ back and then some!

Re: Is it worth it?

I hate to burst your bubble, but the Rx7 is far superior to that 240 your lookin at. Unless your looking to smack of retarded ricey boy racer that is. Im not sayin the 240 is a bad car, just that it doesnt compare to a 7.

Re: Is it worth it?

that completely depends on what year 240, and what is running under the hood. there are plenty of '70s 240Z's out there with small block chevy's...it'd be kinda tough for any 7 to keep up with that

Re: Is it worth it?

I'm going to guess that the 240 would be a 90's sx model and not the 240zx of the 70's. The V8 coverted 240zx probably wouldn't handle very well. 240's aren't a bad car, but you might just get hooked on that rx-7 which wouldn't be a bad thing.

man, a running rx for 600 bucks! great deal. if an old lady owned, it was probably driven like one, so check the 5th and 6th ports. dont' get a 240, the rotary is better. i mean seriously, is there any other kind of motor that REQUIRES you to redline it every so often? that's a pretty sweet deal rigth there

Arent the 240z and the 240sx different cars?

Also, as far as it being different depending on whats under the hood, that is true for ALL cars, including rx7. My comment might be better understood restated, Base rx7 owns Base 240SX

Re: Is it worth it?

If it doesn't start, don't panic! Check the battery. Try the old ATF trick and/or unflooding. Find out how long the gas has been sitting in it too.
