Can i save it?

just found this forum today and i gotta say this is the kinda place i been looking for, I have a 1970's 350 4bolt that was rebuilt by a friend that i really dont think he knows what he's doing but the motor came apart the cam is in the pan and #3 rod let go the motor is still in his truck now but im thinking of buying it but wasnt sure if the block is still good, I also ask him if we could pull the motor before i buy it but thats a no go i guess, so what do you all think?

If your friend pulls the motor out for you (by chance) take it down to a local machine shop and have them look it over for you, they should be able to tell you if it can be save.
