4G91 transmission problem!

Swapped in a 4G91 engine and transmission (harness & computers) into my wife's CB2 lancer(1993). The car was originally not fuel injected. Problem is that the transmission does not seem to be engaging in the right gear. So unable to move off with power and does not accelerate. Any ideas on problem? Heard there is a sensor from the speedometer......I used the original speedometer cable. Any help appreciated.
