Dodge tranny problems

There is alot of bad press that I read here about tranny problems in Dodge trucks. My neighbor own a transmission shop, so I asked him.

He said there was no real pattern of Dodge's, Ford's or Chevy's. In his opinion, one was not worse than the other.

Actually, he said that this past year was a Ford year. He had a good year based upon repairing Ford trannys.

He did say that most of his repairs come from older models that are out of warranty and does not know the numbers of trucks repaired under warranty.

He just a Used Ford Quad Cab (V10) to tow his new boat. His previous vehicle was a GMC SUV with 130K miles on it.

He advised me to buy the truck that I liked and not to base it upon supposed tranny problems.

Re: Dodge tranny problems

Not everybody has problems. I own a 98 Dodge 1500 4wd with 83k on it which I bought new and never had any problems with tranny. Had both front bearings and wheel joints replaced for about $1000. No engine problems either. Buy what you like dont base it on what others say. Just find out if previous owner had problems.
