B16A1 Y1 combo questions

hey all -
i've been lurking for a few weeks, getting a feel for the site. actually, my car is supposed to be February's civic of the month, but i see that isnt up yet.
anyhow - i have a few questions about the ever-popular B16A1 swap.

first off, have any of you had particularly good experiences with certain engine sourcers? i've looked at a few websites, but it bothers me that they dont list the transmission code for the corresponding engine. so if anyone knows of a reputable engine supplier, i'd be grateful!

second: i am a little confused by the transmission options as a result of seeing so many different websites. did the B16A1 come with a Y1 transmission stock? (i believe the siR did, but im not sure). Also, is the Y1 transmission strictly an LSD tranny? I have seen options like this: "option of Y1 transmission or LSD Y1 transmission."

so, any help would be much appreciated.
and isnt the second week of the month about time to put up the civic of the month?

thanks all!
-Bill

Y1 is the original tranny for the first gen B16A motor...LSD is optional but I'd highly recommend it. Here is a site that list the gear ratios and specs... http://www.bseries.net/html/specs/btrannyspecs.php

Re: B16A1 Y1 combo questions

Ummm - actually, the original B16A came with either the Y1 (SiR Civic/CRX) or the S1 (XSi Integra). Both varients ran different ratios. The EDM EE8 and EE9 Civic/CRX VTs ran a different designation on their gearboxes too but the ratios were similar to the EF8/9 as I understand it.

LSD was optional - get it if you can find it though.

Cheers
