hazards wont flash - turn signals DONT work

hey guys, got a question for my pop. he has a 1996 tarus SHO and the turn signals and hazards both stopped working this winter. had a warm day last week, and they started working again. i am a tech assistant to the electronics master tech and corvette specialist at a chevy dealership. so i should be able to figure this one out, but i dont have any schematics or anything. what im asking is if there are any known problems that cause this situation, if there are seperate flashers for turn signals and flashers, or one flasher for both, ive covered all the easy bases, fuses, wiring, power and ground, so its the details of the wiring that i dont know that have got me. any help would be greatly appriciated.

Same problem on our 96 yesterday,I found if i put the hazards on they dont come on but if you wiggle the switch they started working again,sounds like dirt in the switch itself

thanx for the reply man, thought people were ignoring me cuz i was a camaro head or somethin thats also what ive started to think, dirt or a bad switch.
