Stalling volkswagen jetta
I have a 1997 volks jetta. It starts fine but will not idle unless the gas is depressed. The only time It won't stall is when I am at a stop with the gas pedal depressed. I adjusted the throttle cable up so I can get to work without having to keep the gas pedal depressed. I am a newbie so any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Stalling volkswagen jetta
It could be alot of things. Look over the engine for broken or frayed vacuum lines. The ones by the oil breather & behind the throttle body are notorious for rotting. If all looks okay, have someone check for engine codes.

Re: Stalling volkswagen jetta
Your car is OBD-II so the old methods of jumpering wires in the data link connector won't work. I've heard that some places like auto zone or precision tune will read them for you for little or no charge, hoping you will do the repairs there. If you get any codes, post them.
