Hello McFly, Anybody in there!? j/k

Yeah, we can't help you unless you tell us what car you're talking about with the turbo system.

From what I understand the STi's respond well to modding. Doesn't sound impossible it'd gain 20hp and 20tq from an exhaust upgrade.

I've heard of STi's gaining nearly 15-20hp just by running a bit of race gas. Apparently the STi's ECU doesn't like US gasoline, so it dampers the performance... but if you add some race gas to up the octane it senses the change and puts out more power. It might only be for California spec STi's cause we have crappy gas though, else were in the country you can get 93 octane from the pump just about any where.

EDIT: I just noticed you said he'd gain wheel horsepower, not sure about that much of a gain. But maybe crankhorsower... which equate to about... 5-10hp more if he's lucky at the wheels. I'm no expert on the STi, i'm only guessing. I'm sure somebody around here knows.

Re: Re: Turbo back exhaust?

by freeing up back presssure in your exhaust and letting the turbo flow better which allows more air to exit faster and in turn more air will enter faster.

Idunno about STI's.. but you'd be surprised how much of a hp gain you get with just a aftermarket downpipe on a mkIV supra Turbo..

Re: Turbo back exhaust?

you would probably gain more than usual because of the turbo. It also depends on what exhaust (pipe diameter) and what sound suppression type you have. 3" would probably be the way to go in your application. combo with CAI would be very noticable.

If he gets a full 3" mandrel bent exhaust, from the turbo all the way back, he can very well expect those kinds of gains. For even more fun he should remove the cat and put in a test pipe.
