rumbling in front end

I am looking for some advice before I take this 2000 Blazer if for an alignment, or whatever else it may need. The vehicle has 47,000 on it, and I have not hit potholes, or anything seriously hard (I live in Pa, and you may not believe this...LOL) BUT, I noticed the left front tire seems to have a rumbling in it while driving straight down the highway, but when you make a slight right, where the steering wheel is actually inline, inside the vehicle, the ride is smoother again. Once you turn it to the left slightly, it gets worse. Could this be more than an alignment, should I expect a shop to try to pull something over on me, I am a woman.....and I have had this happen in service stations before. I have checked the air pressure in all the tires, and they are all at 35 psi.
Thanks

Re: rumbling in front end

Sounds like it could be the wheel bearing, VERY common problem.

Smile Re: rumbling in front end

Same thing here. Slight hum while driving at any speeds. Pretty much always sounds the same. It doesn't seem to do anything with the 4wd because when I switch back and forth, the noise doesn't change. My wheel is cocks to the left when driving and if I give it some right, it makes the hum go away but at the expense of running off the road :-)

I see Glen mentioned the hub bearings, but so many previous posts say it's not that. Similar symptoms for differnt problems?

Mabey the tires are worn from being out of alignment could be a number of different things. Take it to get looked at.

Re: rumbling in front end

I have the same noise on my blazer and I was going thru it today to look for the problem. I think I have narrowed it down to either a warped rotor (which I doubt but possible) or dry CV joint. I going to look at the CV joint when it not so slushy outside and I don't have ice and water dripping on me.....
