Arrow 91 Escort GT

Hi, My sis has a '91 Escort GT 5spd. It started running rough on her, then died in the 'ole McY D's driver through. Needless to say, She WASN'T "Lovin' it"! 130K miles Timing belt changed around 100k.

I went there to rescue her.

I work on Chevy V8s mostly and lack the experiance on foregn 4cyls.

The motor just cranks, not even a spetter. So, I checked all fuses, and check all 4 plugs have spark. Car reakes of fuel, I couldn't find a schrader valve to test the fuel pressure.

So, I descided to check compression. I pull all the plugs out, put the tester in a spark plug hole. Cran the motor and fuel comes shooting out of #2!

Anyway I look inside and it is a puddle, not just wet. I put the other 3 plugs in and I get it to run, spraying out all the fuel in #2 till it stops. I put the #2 plug back in and got it to run, but it is really broughand won't idle.

Now I can't get it to start unless you floor it and hold it. IF it starts it's not worth bothering since it is running sooo poorly it will just die unless you rev the heck out of it.

My guess is the #2 injector is sticking open.

Any input?

Re: 91 Escort GT

when the engine is running hold a stethoscope up to each injector and listen for clicking noises.... if you hear them then you know the injector is working... beats taking them out! While you have the stethoscope out may as well check for vacuum leaks.
