I don't speak AWD!!

you guys always talk 1/4 mile times and assume AWD + X amount of mods = 1/4 time of Y (potentialy speaking).

so for us GST FWD drive guys, just to give us a clue, what mods would it take to get us into high 12s potentailly speaking. I'm hoping Kevin can help us out here cause I think he has a bit of experience here... or at least he knows of some FWDers with said mods....

Thanks
-Matt

Re: I don't speak AWD!!

I dont think the original post warrants the above reply. But maybe its just me. From what I have seen, FWDs will be about a half second slower with a good setup and a good launch. Remember the rule that every tenth you take off the 60 foot time is worth at least 2 tenths by the end of the track. A good FWD launch will be around 2.0 for the average car, while the average AWD car will do 1.7s. I've heard of some FWDs with some sick 60 foots though, it is possible. So that being said, an average of 2-3 tenths diffeernce in 60' time certainly backs up a half second difference in ETs. So just go by a setup that would get an AWD into the low 12s, and you should expect high 12s FWD with the right setup and driving. Its usually better to go a little overkill on the FWDs though just because its hard to get a consistent launch. A local guy though once ran a 13.9 in a stock 1g FWD talon with just a MBC. Just as an interesting datapoint. Its all in how you go about it. Some people have a knack for running sick times on minimal mods, while other guys like to run 13s on 11 second setups. FWD or AWD...
