Shedding Pounds

Since my cruise control doesnt work, and I dont use it anyway...would it be worth it to take it out, or doesnt it weigh all that much in the first place. My step dad said I was being stupid and that it doesnt weigh anything, and would only drop the price if I wanted to sell my car. Plus I might get a new steering wheel anyway so it wouldnt even matter. Give me the lowdown on this.

Any other simple weight reductions other than things I need like the AC and CD player?

Re: Shedding Pounds

I got rid of the cruise control simply just to clean up my engine compartment, It only saved like 1 lb. Dont worry about resale value, neons are to common so they have a very low resale value anyway. gut your trunk to get rid of weight, getting rid of ac also helps quite a bit. the whole system is like 30 lbs, and your motor wont have to turn the ac pump.

Re: Shedding Pounds

you can also take out the back seat and passenger seat and replace your seat with a light weight racing seat

Why? It's just another way (the best way) to go faster.

thats ok for the track, but for the street its much sweeter to have a quick, normal looking car.

Re: Shedding Pounds

For you. Me too. But some folks like a light car for speed, even if it's like driving a "beer can". I don't see why it's not a legitimate way to go faster.
