Question Groaning from frontend

Recently my 2000 Jimmy has a groaning type sound from the front end. When I turn the sound changes slightly, but still noisey. Checked front end oil and was fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Groaning from frontend

In 4 WD or 2WD... how many miles on the Jimmy?
Cold Weather?
Just turning right, Left?

In either 2WD or 4WD, but louder in 2WD. The Jimmy has 60K for miles. Temperature does not matter. CV Joint boot seals are good and not leaking. I guess it sound more like roaring, we thought road noise from tires, but rotated and no change. Can barely hear noise when at low speeds and as go higher sound gets louder. Does not change when in neutral coasting. Sound changes a little when turning right, but not much. Thanks!!

Re: Groaning from frontend

Mine had the same thing recently. It ended up being the front hub assembly. It kept groaning and grinding, and actually wore down the brakes right to the rotors. It wasn't that hard to replace.

Hope this helps,

Good luck
