Hi, this car has been sitting awhile, when we try to start it it makes a clicking sound. I got a new battery. I took out the the starter and cycloid had it checked at auto zone, checked to make sure the engine was ok and even checked the spark plugs. I even checked the ground wires to the cycloid. I'm out of things to try hope someone knows whats wrong with this car.

Re: 1993 grand am wont start tried everything
check the starter & ignition relays located on the firewall do they click ?? if not take a test lite hooked to ground and probe the hot wires and see if it clicks then. and check your fuses. also make sure the motor isnt locked up. good luck and keep us posted

Re: 1993 grand am wont start tried everything
Try all relays like joe said and check the ign fuses (ignition fuses) or inline fuse for ignition systems.
If the fuse aint working it wont spark. If the power wire that supplies the fuse relay with power is loose it may be the problem as well , if thats the case you could use a 8 mm socket and driver to tighten it hard hand tight. Hope thats a few extra possibilities. |
