1995 camaro wont start need help!!!

here goes the saga......one day my dad went out to start up the car on a very cold cold wintery night to bring it into the garage to bleed the brake system because we had just put in new brake fluid.....any how i was inside and heard several loud backfires from my car......now turns out the car wont start at all........it just makes a rrrrr rrr rrrr sound and somtimes wants to fire up and just barely does like for less than a second..........and the car had been running fine earlier that morning.....so heres what we have done...checked the timing chain...its fine...have plenty of spark....and battery checked fuel pump and just replaced external fuel filter....and new egr valve......i dont know where else to turn......id rather not have to take it into a mechanic....because nothing makes sense because the car was running fine just a few hours earlier....but if i may add it was an unusually cold night and i was low on gas if that means anything.....but we put a 1/4 a tank in and no change.....can someone please please give me any ideas it would be much appreciated.........sorry this is so long..........thanks
p.s. its a 1995 3.4l v6 camaro 5spd.
