Obviously if you're gonna abuse the car and do things like burnouts and drifting its gonna wear and tear at the car much faster. Oh it hurts just to imagine such a beautiful car undergoing such abuse

2002 camaro SS comes with 325hp (claimed) and 335hp with the dual exhaust option, although i've read over and over that some cars come out factory freaks pushing closer to 340hp.

ANY car under that abuse will have problems, if you drive like that constantly be prepared to shell out some dough

Re: selling vr4 and buying camaro ss

Some stock LS1's have been known to pull low 13's bone stock and baseline dyno at over 300hp to the rear wheels. They truely are powerful machines.

As for the reliability, generally speaking, the more you beat on it, the less reliable it will be. That being said, I beat the shit out of my Z on a daily basis during the summer; burnouts, powersliding, donuts, redlining, and it doesn't seem to have any problems handling it. Not bad for a 10 year old car. I'd say anything '00 and up is going to be pretty damn reliable.

Until you start modding of course...

yeah, i'll probly only do exhaust, intake, and by the way can you get ram air intake for the ss? and a chip, thats enough for me 12 sec is what i was running in the vr4, high 12's. so i won't be drastically upgrading the engine. without burnouts and what not is it reliable? and are they expensive to fix?

Re: selling vr4 and buying camaro ss

It'll be as reliable as your mitsu...

And the SS's come stock with ram air induction. Their scoops are fully functional.

Honestly man I don't think it would be that bad. Just don't go dropping the clutch if you wanna do some sideways burnouts...just get it going in gear like walking speed, then just push on the gas and manuver the wheel and brakes right to stay sideways...and while your doing that keep a look at your tach, cause while your trying to stay on the road your tach will be soaring (burning gas and eventual engine wear) so its alright to let off the gas, let it drop a little, then press it. But if you get practice keeping it steady then just hold it at like 4g's and work the wheel you'll go sieways for blocks. I just don't see much getting hurt except some pretty consistant tire bills, unless your droppng your cluch at every stoplight, those cars dont need to drop it anyway, instant power. Way different ride from yur VR-4. I was only in one once, and theres no feeling like powersliding around the turn with four wheels, talk about adrenaline...

Re: selling vr4 and buying camaro ss

Just an edit to what was said above...

A 2002 SS could come with either 325, 335, or 345 hp. Gotta look at the SLP build sticker on the inside of the passenger door to know which it is. If it came as a base SS, no SLP options, it's a 325 hp SS. If it came with an SLP exhaust, either the dual-dual, or the CME, it was a 335 hp SS. If it came with both exhaust and an SLP airlid, it was a 345 hp SS. Just FYI...

Re: selling vr4 and buying camaro ss

burnouts are not bad for the car, tires are damn expencive though the LS1's are showing up with an oil concumption problem, caused by crappy rings. and manuals are the majority of the repairs, so high revving, dumping the clutch and stuff like that, will probly accelerate the problem, but it is a known problem, and gm has a bulletin out to have new rings put in problem cars. other than that. the cars are solid, reliabe, and a damn load of fun
