2000 Pathfinder Leg Room
Does any one out there know of a way to alter the drivers side seat bracket to get a little more leg room. I am 6'5" and need a little more to be comfortable. I recently took the seat out and looked for ways to extend the existing bracket but had no luck. At this time I am looking for aftermarket seat brackets that will allow the use of the orginal stock seat. This is a longshot I know, but I can't think of any other options. Am I overlooking a possibility with the existing seat bracket? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I had my brackets removed and repositioned, and belive me it helped! (Im 6'9") I really dont think its a major deal unless your mechanically un-inclined. Im sure their are members of this forum who can guide you through the process. My brother in law did mine, I know he did it in 1 day so how tough could it be?
Good luck! Let us know how it worked! Giant |

Re: 2000 Pathfinder Leg Room
Hey thanks Giant, this gives me hope afterall. Looking at the brackets though, I am scratching my head to understand how they can be repositioned. The back portion of the brackets is no problem as they mount flat to the floor. However, the front of the brackets is bent to accomodate the hump in the floor pan (giving the front of the seat adequate height). I am assuming that the front of these brackets must be bent into a horizontal position and re-mounted on the top (or behind) the hump, drilling 4 new holes in the floor. If anyone has any insight into this delimma, please stop me before I scare the neighbors off with flying wrenches and explitives. Thanks, Demps.

Hey Demps, ill try to check under there and see what I can see, as soon as I figure out my porblem and get the darn thing into my garage. I will try to take some pics for you. I think either the bracket was bent smooth (heated and bent) or a spacer was applied . But Ill check.
Im trying to figure out if my problem is a bad ground or not..then Im moving to teh distributor. Not fun laying in 3 feet of snow trying to do this! Damn thing, if I didnt Love Pathy's id just put a sign on it!! Giant |

Re: 2000 Pathfinder Leg Room
Hey, thanks again Giant. I appreciate the help. Listen, I hope you find that short. As much as I want to move back up North, working on a vehicle in the winter time is a hell that I don't miss. But I'll have my turn this summer with the heat and the mosquitos. If I find out anything, I'll let you know.

Demps I cant send a photot yet because my son knocked my camera out of my hands when I was trying to take a picture of the seats! BROKEN camera!! Anyway, It does appear that he heated and bent the brackets and then added a spacer. Will take a little welding. Drilled new holes through floor and rebolted everything. Of course sitting behind me is impossible, but its way better!
Still cnat figure out why the power windows are SOOO slow and whats going on? Obvioulsy must be electrical I will try to trace the ground wires soon, but time and weather not cooperating with me! Giant |
